What is a fun fact about you?
I used to be a trainee chef and a cook/baker.
If you had to introduce yourself in one paragraph, what would you say?
Kia ora, my name is Katherine and I am a social worker in the social support team. I studied a Bachelor of Social Work at Massey University then went on to work as a hospital social worker in Palmerston North before moving to Wellington to work at Evolve at the beginning of 2021. My family are from Northern Ireland (and a lot of my family are still over there) but I was born here in Aotearoa NZ. I love being able to go over and visit and I have done a couple of side quest journeys to go explore other places as well. I mainly grew up in Palmy but have spent a year living in Tauranga and a year in Taranaki. Mental health/wellbeing support is super important to me, and I have also completed a postgraduate certificate in Cognitive behavioural therapy which helps support my mahi in this area. I love getting lost in a good book- especially while sitting in the sun, watching shows and movies, listening to music, cooking/baking (love a sweet treat), exercise (as long as it’s not cardio), spending time with friends and family, and being by/in the water.
What is your star sign?
Scorpio.
What is your favorite food?
A lil sweet treat. Also love chips with curry sauce and fried rice with curry sauce, or an Ulster Fry (basically a big breakfast but with potato bread and soda bread)
If you weren’t a Social Worker, what would you be?
An author, working with animals or a yoga instructor.
What’s your karaoke song?
Any song by Queen.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn?
How to crochet, and martial arts.
