Daniel Mitchell
Policy Advisor (II) - Resilience and Security
How do you identify yourself?
He/Him
What is a fun fact about you?
I’ve recently taken up pottery as a new hobby - so to all of my friends and family, I hope you are happy with mugs for all future gifts!
If you had to introduce yourself in one paragraph, what would you say?
I would say give me another paragraph! Although I work in Wellington City, I grew up in Upper Hutt, which is where I still live today. My local Youth One Stop Shop is Vibe, which was a great support to my friends and I as we grew up, so I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to contribute to the governance of Evolve. I’m passionate about public health and in this role with Evolve I want to help ensure youth of the present and of the future have the same (or ideally better!) access to relevant youth development, health, and social services that I had.
As for my career, I have become a policy professional by accident, with a specialty in emergency management; I also volunteer with the Trusts of two community health organisations - Evolve and Te Omanga Hospice. Across all of my roles to date, I have developed and applied my skills in systems thinking, stewardship, and governance.
What is your star sign?
Aries
What is your favorite food?
I love all food, but at the moment, loaded fries are at the top of my list.
What’s your karaoke song?
Riptide by Vance Joy. Not much of a Karaoke song, I know, but its one of the few songs I know every word to!
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn?
I’ve always wanted to learn a second language - one day!
